Parks play an important role in our community. They are places that we can go to connect with nature, play with friends or family and gather for special events as a community. Often these parks are free to use by those living in or visiting the area.
On April 22nd come out to help clean up local parks to show your appreciation and celebrate Earth Day!
There is a job for almost any age (kiddos 6 and up with an adult is suggested) from picking up trash and freshening-up flower beds to cleaning playground equipment and raking in bark dust.
What a great way to spend a few hours on a Saturday with your family or an organized group. Check out the details below for locations to volunteer.
Battle Ground
From 9:00 am – 12:00 pm join in the 5th Annual Park Day Appreciation as two of the city’s favorites, Kiwanis Park and Florence Robison-South Park, are given a much needed face-lift. This is a rain or shine event, so dress for the weather. Extra bonus…refreshments will be provided. Volunteer groups of six or more are encouraged to pre-register by calling (360) 342-5380 or by completing and submitting the form available by clicking here.
Vancouver
Come out to LeRoy Haagen Park and join the City of Vancouver, Vancouver’s Watershed Alliance and partners for the Comcast Cares Earth Day clean-up and invasive species scavenger hunt. Be sure to dress for the weather and bring a reusable water bottle or mug. Water and hot chocolate will be provided. Volunteers under the age of 18 must submit a signed consent form. Please RSVP by clicking here so the volunteer coordinators can plan.
Frenchman’s Bar Park is in need of some TLC before the summer season kicks off. Starting at 9:00 am come out and help the Columbia Riverkeeper and Clark County Parks to help with the Beach Cleanup. By removing litter from the banks of the Columbia, you will prevent that litter from ultimately entering the Pacific Ocean. Light refreshments will be served after the event.
