It’s the fun of First Friday again in Downtown. As you enjoy your time celebrating original art in a number of locations throughout our downtown, be sure to note some outstanding public art always on display. Three projects (Flying Umbrellas at Evergreen and Main, The Phoenix at 8th and Main, and Heart and Stone at 6th and Columbia) were commissioned by our friends at Vancouver’s Downtown Association. Downtown Property Owner Menashe Properties has added an outstanding piece recently at 11th and Main – titled ‘Uskudar’ – by local artist Lee Kelly.
Are you a beader? Bring your project to the Clark County Historical Museum during Vancouver’s First Friday Downtown for open beading. Everyone is welcome to this free event. It’ll run from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. This is a social activity, not a class. While you’re here, be sure to experience the exhibition Making Beauty: Native Beadwork of North America. Admission is waived for First Friday, but donations are greatly appreciated. Come make some wearable art.
Or drop in Boomerang, which is open for dessert, espresso drinks, live music and art displays. Featured artists are Ron Croft and Alanna Monet Carlson. Come for free house coffee, music by Caryn Jamieson at 7 p.m., kids face painting and see how they raise money for charity by inspiring the local community to give back, believing generosity returns!
There’s always a lot going on First Friday’s in Downtown.
