Run for America

hey! sharing is caring :)

Many of us are feeling helpless as we watch the horrific scenes on the news of the devastation in Houston, Florida and the fires in the Gorge, Oregon, California, and Montana.

Join others who are showing support and raising funds to help those affected at the Run for America event of Sunday, September 17, 2017. There will be options for a 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon course; and money raised from this event will go to the American Red Cross. The Run for America is a free will, donation based event, and representatives from the Red Cross will be on site to collect donations.

“We chose Sunday, September 17th since many in our community were planning on running VUM/Vancouver USA race anyways so it can be a way to honor VUM and everything that event has done for our community and assure you don’t put all that training to waste while doing something really great for those in need. We can do something spectacular…where our running and walking community still gets together, we get our run or walk in and do something pretty AMAZING!

We will provide 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon course maps so you can do whatever distance you want. You can even choose a completely different course or do the VUM Marathon course if you want! It’s important to understand that this event will be non-supported which means you will need to obey all traffic signals and you’ll need to carry your own hydration/electrolytes/fuel. We will provide you course maps and will keep the courses relatively simple to assure no one gets lost. This will be a NO-FRILLS event (but if you know us, you know we’ll try to do something to take care of all of you!)

Warehouse ’23, adjacent to our start/finish area, will offer a $20 brunch for all of us after our runs and will donate 50% of the money directly to the American Red Cross to help the victims! The brunch will include bottomless Mimosas, Bloody Marys and Deschutes Brewery Beer…the bottomless part is within reason.” ~Why Racing Events

Run for America will start at the Amphitheater beside Warehouse 23 (100 Columbia St., Vancouver, WA 98660) on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at 9:00 am. Please arrive by 8:30 am at the latest for instructions and to register, sign the waiver and provide your donation to the American Red Cross if you have not done it online.
