Summer is still a busy season for the Rocksolid Community Teen Center. And now, more than ever, is a good time to stock up on much-needed supplies.
That’s where a recently organized supply drive kicks in. The newly opened Battle Ground location of Academy Mortgage is having a supply drive for Rocksolid Community Teen Center during the entire month of July. Rocksolid is serving an average of 40 teens a day during the school year, offering free daily healthy snacks, life skills, crafts, games, and much more. Providing needed items for that amount of youth adds up quickly. Jevon Domench and his team at Academy Mortgage hope to help offset this expense by having friends, clients, and the community drop off needed items at their office, located at 10 S. Parkway, Suite 203 in Battle Ground. Paper plates, napkins, cups, plastic silverware, plastic bags, paper towels, Kleenex, batteries, and non-perishable healthy food items, are just some of the products needed.
“This will greatly assist our program serving the youth with these needed daily products. We appreciate the support from Jevon and his wonderful team,” states Marcy Sprecher, Executive Director with Rocksolid. “Not only through providing the means for our clients to have a home of their own, but through giving back; this is what feeds our souls,” says Jevon Domench, with Academy Mortgage.
Rocksolid Community Teen Center offers a safe place after school for 5th-12th grade students in the Battle Ground and Hockinson School Districts. The teen center provides caring mentors which help with homework, play games, make crafts, teach life skills, offer free healthy snacks, contribute to community service projects and much more for only $20 a year per student. Rocksolid is located in the lower level of Bethel Lutheran Church, where they have graciously donated the space. Their stated mission is “To provide a safe place for youth of our community and to foster relationships with one another and caring adults for the purpose of encouraging them to become ROCKSOLID persons.” If you are interested in finding out more about the program, contact Marcy Sprecher, Executive Director, at [email protected].
