The Clark County Fire District 3 Board of Fire Commissioners has selected a new Fire Commissioner to replace Commissioner Richard Deleissegues, who passed away on September 9, 2018. New Commissioner Rick Steele received his Oath of Office on October 8, 2018.
Rick has been a Clark County resident his entire life. He and his wife Jill live in the Venersborg area, after living 30 years in Hockinson. They have two grown children and two grandchildren.
Commissioner Steele retired from the Vancouver Fire Department in January of 2018 after 33 years of service as a firefighter, captain, and battalion chief.
He enjoys traveling with his wife in their motor home to national parks all over the nation. When at home, they both love to work in their yard and garden. His main hobby is coaching football at Hockinson High School – home of the defending 2A State Champions – where he has been the head coach for 14 years. He says, “it is an honor to coach the young men of this community.”
In response to his selection as Commissioner, Rick added, “I look forward to serving the citizens of Fire District 3 and the members of this very fine fire department.”
