Relay for Life of North Clark County

hey! sharing is caring :)

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life movement symbolizes hope and a shared goal to end a disease that threatens the lives of so many people we love. The theme for 2016 is Luau for Life with events starting Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Battle Ground High School.

The Opening Ceremony starts at 10:00 am on Saturday and brings everyone together for a high-energy event kickoff that celebrates the lives of those who have battled cancer. Cancer survivors then take the first lap around the track cheered on by the other participants and the sound of upbeat music followed by the Caregivers Lap, where anyone who ever cared for someone with cancer can walk a special lap.

The candlelight Luminaria Ceremony is a time to remember loved ones lost to cancer, support people who currently have cancer, and honor people who fought cancer in the past and will take place at 10:00 pm. Closing Ceremonies will take place Sunday morning starting at 9:30 am.

“Gather friends and family and join us at Relay for Life as we come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. The funds raised truly make a difference in the fight against cancer, just ask one of the nearly 14 million cancer survivors who will celebrate another birthday this year! Each year we fundraise throughout the year and then join together on the 3rd weekend of August at Battle Ground High School. Relay for Life teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around the track at the local high school. Our event is 24 hours long, and because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times. In more than 5,200 communities and 20 countries, Relay for Life events comprise the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Each Relay for Life event is special to its community, but the movement’s true power lies in the combined commitment of thousands of participants, volunteers, and supporters to help the American Cancer Society save lives from cancer.” ~Relay for Life of North Clark County
