Camas Bike and Sport Hosts “Race for the Future” Mountain Bike Event at Washougal MX Park on Saturday, June 18, 2016.
“Race for the Future” is an OBRA sanctioned Mountain Bike race that is part of the Oregon Off-Road Series and the Championship race for the Junior Mountain Bike Series (junior categories will get their own heat separate from the adult racers!) In order to bring awareness to the growing sport of Middle School and High School Student Mountain Biking, this event is a fundraiser for their student mountain biking program and the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). $10 from every registered racer will go directly to support NICA.
Racers can discover the thrill of XC racing at Washougal MX Park, with a combination of flowy single track, service road climbs, high-speed descents, and even ripping part of the famous Motocross track itself. This course itself depending on category and class will be 2-4 laps on 4-5.5 mile course lasting 1.5 to 3 hours long. For spectators this a perfect event to attend and one of the few XC races that incorporates multiple course laps enabling spectators to watch racers progression throughout the event. The Free Kiddie Race is the highlight for youngsters ages 2-10 years old. Bring the whole family, it’s a great way to kick off the Father’s Day weekend!
Registration is now open, and Medals will be awarded to top three riders in each category. For more information, including registration, event and course details, please visit Camas Bikes online or call 360-210-5160.
