Come enjoy music, fun, food, family-friendly activities and a sense of community at downtown Ridgefield’s First Saturday Celebration, Picnic in the Park, on Saturday, August 6, 2016, starting at 9:00 am at Overlook Park.
“The sultry days of summer are upon us. So saunter downtown for food, friendship and fun. Pack or purchase a picnic lunch and cool down with water games, frozen dairy treats, a refreshing beer or glass of wine, and some soul-nurturing music.”
Shop the local Farmer’s Market, enjoy water balloon games and misting tower, participate in the Discover the Outdoors scavenger hunt, vote on the “my favorite pet photo” contest, check out the interactive art projects and photo opportunity with the Ridgefield Art Association.
At 11:00 am, the live music starts! Picnic lunches will also be for sale, or bring your own, there will be picnic tables and areas for picnic blankets in the shade. The Beer Garden will open at noon.
Overlook Park is located at the end of Main Street, Ridgefield and “overlooks” the beauty of the National Wildlife Refuge. It is a way to connect the urban and natural aspects of the city. The park, which was recently redone, includes an amphitheater, brick plaza, historical information about the early settlement of the Native Americans, and public restrooms.
