Not much sounds better on a hot day than a cool slushy treat…even better if you’re a kid and it’s free because you just got caught being good!
The Vancouver Police are excited to once again be participating in the 7- Eleven “Operation Chill” program…and just in time for the beginning of summer.
It allows law enforcement officers to “ticket” kids they observe doing good deeds or exhibiting positive behavior. The ticket is actually a coupon good for a free Slurpee at any participating store.
In addition to encouraging positive behaviors, Operation Chill provides opportunities for officers to establish a rapport with kids in a neighborhood. The reasons for being “ticketed” are varied (such as wearing a bike helmet or participating in a summer youth program), but the end result is the same for every youngster: A free Slurpee drink and a smile for a good deed.
