Magenta Theater Presents: “Is He Dead?” | A Fast Paced Comedy by Mark Twain

hey! sharing is caring :)

Hang on to your seats for this fast paced comedy as Magenta Theater presents the April mainstage production of “Is He Dead?”. The script was originally written by Mark Twain and had been thought to be lost. Once it resurfaced, it was updated by David Ives for today’s audiences.

The story centers on Jean-Francois Millet (Magenta newcomer Jason White), who is an impoverished painter who needs to clear his debts in order to marry his love Marie (Katie Skinner).  With the help of his pupils Chicago (Matt Newport), Dutchy (Tony Provenzola), and O’Shaughnessy (Shaye Eller),  he fakes his death to increase the value of his works and become rich.  Millet then pretends to be his own twin sister in order to collect his new fortune and payoff his debts to Bastien Andre (Jim Caruthers).  This leads to a series of mistaken identities and enough marriage proposals to make Shakespeare proud.
