Landfill Harmonic

hey! sharing is caring :)

When you think of garbage, do you think of music? Or, perhaps, free movie and pizza? Honestly, those are not the top three things that originally came to my mine, either; but, trust me, they do all go together.

The 7th Annual Food and Film series will feature Landfill Harmonic as this year’s first film, and will be serving up free pizza by Jo Foody Catering (including gluten free and dairy free options) on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Vancouver Community Library.

Landfill Harmonic follows the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, a Paraguayan musical group that plays instruments made entirely out of garbage. When their story goes viral, the orchestra is catapulted into the global spotlight. Under the guidance of idealistic music director Favio Chavez, the orchestra must navigate a strange new world of arenas and sold-out concerts. However, when a natural disaster strikes their community, Favio must find a way to keep the orchestra intact and provide a source of hope for their town. The film is a testimony to the transformative power of music and the resilience of the human spirit.”

The event is free, but donations are encouraged, appreciated and used to support events/activities such as the film series. The Vancouver Community Library is located at 901 C Street, downtown Vancouver. For more information, visit Vancouver Watersheds Alliance, or call 360-852-9189.
