Kit Ross, Lake Shore Elementary: November 2018 Teacher Appreciation Program Grant Awardee

hey! sharing is caring :)

She creates projects and activities that make learning exciting and engaging for her students.

Isn’t that a big part of what school is all about? An excitement to learn? A desire to be engaged?

And that is just one of the many positive traits that were highlighted in the nomination of Kit Ross, the November 2018 TwinStar Credit Union/ ClarkCountyLive.com Teacher Appreciation Award Grant winner. Ross, a 5th-grade teacher at Lake Shore Elementary school, was selected from entries submitted by school Administrators and PTA Board/Members from schools and districts throughout Clark County.

Ross’ nomination was submitted by a PTA Board/Member, and included the following: “Kit is an amazing teacher. She is energetic, kind and enthusiastic. She makes her students feel special and smart. She creates projects and activities that make learning exciting and engaging for her students. She has created themed book report projects for her students to complete each month. This has encouraged my daughter to be a reader and to find her love for reading again. Kit is an amazing educator and deserves to be chosen for this program!

I mean, who doesn’t want to feel special and smart? And when you’re 11 years old and you get that positive reinforcement from someone with whom you spend several hours a day, 180 days a year, well, those are good vibes.

The goal of the TwinStar Credit Union/ ClarkCountyLive.com Teacher Appreciation Program is two-fold; to provide an outlet to recognize the outstanding works and unselfish actions taken by teachers in their classrooms, and to financially assist these teachers to continue these admirable efforts on behalf of the children in our community.

Congratulations to Kit Ross, her students, and all the staff and students of Lake Shore Elementary – home of the Super Seagulls!
