Get Those Feet A Walking for World Water Day

hey! sharing is caring :)

Get your walking shoes, grab some friends or family and come out on March 22, 2017 for World Water Day with a ‘Walk for Water’.

All around the world and particularly in developing nations, March 22 has been set a side as a day each year to focus on one of the most precious resources for life: Water. Water is, in fact, a scarce commodity. Even in the Pacific Northwest, where winter rains regularly drench and soak the soil, our water cannot and should not be taken for granted.

To better recognize and inform about the vital role water plays in sustaining life and community, the Water Center is hosting a new event this year, Walk for Water, with the goal to raise awareness of the need for drinkable water in the United States and other parts of the world.

Here in Southwest Washington we are fortunate to have a healthy supply of good, clean water. But how would your family manage if you had to carry water for your home use? This community walk gives just a taste of what that would be like with a walk from the Water Center to the Columbia River.

Check in at Water Center (4600 SE Columbia Way) and walk any time from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on Wednesday, March 22, dress for weather and bring a container to carry water.
