Mark your calendars for the 9th Annual National Get Outdoors Day event on Saturday, June 10 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, which will be held near Fort Vancouver, along East 5th Street and in the Great Meadow.
The Gifford Pinchot and Mt. Hood National Forests, Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area, Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, City of Vancouver, Parks Foundation of Clark County and many other public, private, and non-profits groups have partnered together to put on this FREE local event.
Come out and explore the Brigade Encampment, which re-enacts the return of Hudson’s Bay Company fur brigades to Fort Vancouver.
Experience a different time as costumed re-enactors demonstrate cooking, crafts, games, dances, black powder skills and music of the 1840s.
Families can enjoy the rock wall, the archery station, fishing and will be treated to a visit from Smokey Bear, Woodsy Owl, and Jr. Beaver!!
Don’t forget to sign up the kiddos for the Get Outdoors Day Activity Passport. Fill those books up with stamps from stations throughout the event and kids will have a chance to win one of several prizes.
Living in the amazing Pacific NW, this event is a natural fit to celebrate the outdoor lifestyle by embracing our parks, forests, wildlife refuges, and other public lands and waters.
