Share the Fun.

The fifth annual “Fire in the Park” Firefighter Challenge and Chili Cookoff will take place on Saturday, July 20 2013 in Esther Short Park from 11 am to 5 pm. This is a FREE family fun event, open to everyone.

Local restaurants and local fire stations will compete in a chili cook-off as part of the 5th annual Vancouver Fire Fighters Union’s fundraiser “Fire in the Park,” which is a benefit event for Share. Chili tasting is just $1 a cup, and all proceeds from the chili tasting benefit Share. “The chili cook-off has become a centerpiece of Fire in the Park and is a wonderful way to engage the community with local restaurants, as well as our local fire fighters” said Diane McWithey, Executive Director of Share. “We encourage everyone who attends the event to participate in the tasting – at just $1 per tasting cup, it’s a great way to support the community, support Share, plus taste some delicious chili.”

In addition to the chili cook-off, this year’s activities include: fire fighter competition, kid’s zone featuring Home Depot’s Kid’s Workshop, NW Regional Fire Pipe & Drum bands, fire apparatus display, beer and wine garden, featured bands include High Point and One of A Kind Drum Line. For complete event details, visit Fire in the Park.

It’s a trifecta of fun downtown on Saturday! Along with Fire in the Park, you can also watch (or participate in) the annual Cruisin’ the Gut (which is also having a food drive for Share) and visit the Vancouver Farmers Market!

Whew! Busy day in the ‘Couve!
