Feel the Heat in Vancouver at Fire in the Park

hey! sharing is caring :)

Esther Short Park is the place to be on July 19th to have some fun and feel some heat at Vancouver’s Annual Fire In The Park, well heat of friendly competition that is. This is a fundraising event organized by Firefighters Local Union 452 to support SHARE.

SHARE is a local non-profit who’s mission is to lead the hungry and homeless to self-sufficiency by providing food, shelter, housing, education and compassion through the strength of our community. The Summer Meals program, Backpacks for Kids, and the Hot Meals program are just a few of the services that SHARE provides to our community

While Local Union 452 is the primary organizer, many firefighters, sponsors, participants and volunteers from different areas participate to make this a successful event for our community.

The highlight of this years event is the fantastic Firefighter’s Challenge, featuring the awesome feats of our beloved men and women firefighters and will also include a special contest for kids. There will also be a focus on the all-important Safety and Awareness Programs provided by local Firefighters, including hands-on exhibits for children and local information experts stationed throughout the park to talk will all ages.

While you are there you can enjoy the NW Pipe and Drum band, kids events, community displays, great food and beer garden. The ever popular Chili Cook-off will be postponed this year, but this will allow for the event to have an expanded Kids Zone.

Fire in the Park runs from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm and admission is free, however donations are appreciated. So pack up the whole family and come on down to Esther Short Park to enjoy a fun filled Saturday of activities.
