Clark County Drug Court Celebrates 20 Years of Saving Lives
May 2 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Treatment courts are the single most successful intervention in our nation’s history for leading people living with substance use and mental health disorders out of the justice system and into lives of recovery and stability.
The mission is simple: help participants to get re-established in the community; improve skills and self-sufficiency; reduce the cycle of addiction and crime; and help restore and reunite families.
The Clark County Drug Court will mark its 20-year anniversary of saving lives, saving money and reducing crime at an upcoming celebration on Thursday, May 2, noon to 1:15 pm in the sixth-floor hearing room in the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.
Come hear from former graduates and witness the success and transformations made over the years, meet the Drug Court team, and enjoy light refreshments.
The event is free and open to the public and will honor May as National Drug Court Month. Honorable James E. Rulli will receive special recognition for pioneering the implementation of the Clark County Drug Court in 1999.
According to the National Association of Drug Court Professionals, drug courts are the single most successful criminal justice intervention for seriously addicted offenders.
“Drug Courts are a vital part of our strategy to reduce drug use and crime, save lives and rebuild our community,” said Shauna McCloskey, Therapeutic Specialty Courts coordinator in Superior Court.
