Christmas Ship owners are getting ready to set sail for their 64th year, the longest continually running Christmas Ship parade in America. One of the most unique Christmas lighting displays around Clark County will be parading past the new Vancouver Waterfront on December 5,6,12,13,18, and 20th of 2018.
I love driving around looking at Christmas lights on homes throughout Clark County. But, there’s something extra special about watching Christmas lights as they float down a dark Columbia River. (Maybe one day I’ll actually be able to ride IN the parade ? ).
Christmas Ships is an all-volunteer organization, and “each skipper is responsible for their own expenses, including fuel and insurance for their vessels over the two weeks. This can run into the hundreds of dollars, which in itself is a testament to the dedication and enthusiasm the Christmas Ship skippers bring to the organization and the community.”
Some of the ships owners have been part of Christmas tradition for more than 30 years! Congratulations to the following ships on your big anniversaries this year:
Trader Vic 30 Years
Wooden Shoe 20 Years
Felicitas 10 Years
