An Evening at the Fort | Lantern Tours

hey! sharing is caring :)

The Annual Fort Vancouver Lantern Tours are back!!!

These exciting evenings at the fort offer a unique opportunity to view this historic site in a different light…at night, on foot, and by candle lantern.

You will get the chance to choose from two different tours:

Fort Vancouver Tour

Come and explore the 19th century Hudson’s Bay Company, Fort Vancouver with a park ranger. You will tour the Counting House, Fur Store, Chief Factor’s House, Kitchen and Bake House.

In each building, experience historical vignettes with costumed living history interpreters, including graduates of the park’s Youth Volunteer Programs. Here are the upcoming tours:

November 25th
December 16th
January 27th
February 17th

U.S. Army’s Vancouver Barracks

Travel back in time as you walk the grounds of the Vancouver Barracks by lantern light and experience the national park’s military history.

Each tour will feature a specific thematic focus as volunteers bring the past to life through storytelling. Here are the upcoming tours:

November 18th
January 20th
February 3rd

Both Lantern Tours meet at the entrance gate to the reconstructed Fort Vancouver (1001 E Fifth Street) and will begin at 7:00 pm.

The tours last approximately 1.5 hours and are about a mile of walking. Due to program length, these tours are recommended for children ages 10 and over.

Advanced reservations are highly recommended, as these tours sell out fast. Payment will be required at the time of the reservations.

To reserve your spot, call the bookstore at the park’s Visitor Center at (360) 816-6216.

Cost is only $20.00 for adults and $10.00 for children ages 15 and under.

Please come prepared and dressed for the weather and the terrain.
