Ducky Derby

hey! sharing is caring :)

Are you feeling ducky, er…I mean lucky? Get in on the action when over 5,000 ducks race down the Washougal River at the Ducky Derby at noon on Sunday, July 23, 2017.

Adopt a Rubber Ducky (or more than one) for $5 each and enjoy the thrill of a race, the pure fun of sports entertainment and the reward of knowing the proceeds will support Rotary projects, both locally and internationally.

Held every summer during the Camas Days festival, Ducky Derby is Camas-Washougal Rotary’s largest fundraiser. The race begins on the Third Avenue Bridge in Camas, WA when a front-loader tips its bucket and unloads approximately 5,000 toy ducks into the water below. From there the current takes over and the ducks dash to the finish line. The fastest ducks down the river will win prizes for those who’ve adopted them. The public is invited to watch the event from the Third Avenue Bridge over the Washougal River or from along the banks of the river below.

The grand prize is a trip to Hawaii! Many other prizes will be awarded, but the real winners are the kids and adults who benefit from Rotary service projects supported by the Derby!

Since its inception, the Ducky Derby has raised more than $150,000. Over 97% of the proceeds from the Derby directly benefit the projects supported by Camas‐Washougal Rotary, including, Young Women & Men in Action, Backpack Project, A Gift of Words—Dictionaries for 3rd Graders, Santa’s Posse, SHARE House, International Youth Exchange, Meals on Wheels, Walk & Knock, Polio Eradication, and Scholarships.
