Clark County Fair Where Science is Fun

hey! sharing is caring :)

The Clark County Fair is the “Summer’s Best Party” and you can consider yourself formally invited to attend! The 148th annual Clark County Fair will take place Friday, August 5 through Sunday, August 14, 2016. This year’s theme is Fun Science Experience!

The first five nights of the fair will feature live concerts in the Grandstands. “The Clark County Fair has the musical artists you want with the sounds of classic rock and boot-scooting country – all live at the ERS FREE Grandstand!” Enjoy Queensryche, Trace Adkins, Los Lonely Boys, Chris Janson, and Foghat. Your fair admission gets you free seating in the grandstands, or VIP Reserved Seats are available for $25-$35 and include Fair admission, no lines and reserved seats.

Then comes more pulse-pounding and heart-thumping action full of thrills and spills at the Grandstand. All the favorites are back: Mutton Bustin’ and Bull Riding, Moto X Thrills, Demolition Derby, Tuff Trucks and Monster Trucks!

There is entertainment happening every minute of the Fair, all over the grounds, not just at the Grandstand. Personally, one of my favorite events is back this year, Dock Dogs :-D ! It’s been a few years since Dock Dogs was at the Fair, and if you’ve never seen a “Big Air” competition, (imagine track and field Long Jump, but for dogs, with water) this is your chance to see one of the most popular pooch/human sports in the world today. You think your dog has what it takes to be a Dock Dog? Then do it! Anyone can enter; for more information or to register, visit Dock Dogs.

New this year is Cowboy Boot Camp, which is a completely self-contained educational kid’s area attraction dressed up like a small town, with hands-on activity stations. Once inside you can pan for gold, try out a game of horseshoes, learn to lasso and do steer roping and so much more. Want to dress up like a cowboy or cowgirl? They’ve got you covered! Plus there will be face painting, crafts and even a cowboy campout. Get over to this brand new feature and whoop it up!

Fun Science Experience is coming to the Clark County Fair with interactive displays, spectacular Science Stage shows, amazing science experiments, robotics teams and so much more. “The Clark County Fair wants to support STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) initiatives for young adults, and what better way than with the ultimate mad scientist lab ever created?! We are going to put engineering and math to the test, physics through the paces and gravity through the wringer. Learn about Newton’s Laws through hands-on displays. Discover the power of waves, motion and potential energy in the Physics Lab. Twist your brain with optical illusions, force yourself to understand magnetism and get into color absorption experimentation.”

The Clark County Fair is known for its fun midway, strolling acts and crazy antics and this year will be no different! Plus get all the rides, food, fun, marketplace, exhibits, Royalty and adorable animals you can handle! The Clark County Fair opens Friday morning, August 5, with the Fred Meyer Free Pancake Breakfast from 8 am to 11 am (free admission ends at noon). Valid only with Free Entry Voucher available at SW Washington Fred Meyer locations for a limited time and while supplies last.

For more information, including a full schedule of events, discount advance tickets and packages, hours and more, visit the Clark County Fair online.
