City of Vancouver Accepting Applications for Public Facilities Board Member

hey! sharing is caring :)

The City of Vancouver is looking to fill a spot on the Public Facilities Board.

The Vancouver Public Facilities District “is a municipal corporation governed by a five-member Board of Directors.” PFD was started in 1999 to develop the convention center and hotel downtown. As the owner of the hotel and convention center property, the PFD leases the property to the ‘City’s Downtown Redevelopment Authority’. A sales tax credit is given to the PFD for the operation of the hotel and convention center property. This money is then given to the DRA.

To apply, visit the City of Vancouver online or contact Michelle Bartley at the City Manager’s Office at [email protected], or at 360-487-8607, or by mail at City Hall, P.O. Box 1995. Applications are due 5:00 PM on Wednesday, October 17th. Applicants must be a resident within city limits. City employees are not eligible for the position.

Once applications are received, the Vancouver City Council will determine a board member based on recommendations from organizations such as the Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, local economic development organizations and local labor councils. Board members take on four-year terms. The current open position ends November 30, 2022. Board members can serve two consecutive four-year terms if they choose. Meetings are held twice a year, once in June and once in December. Meetings take place in City Hall Council Chambers (415 W. 6th St.) Prior to meetings, board members review budget summaries and other financial information.
