  • Christmas Ships Parade on the Columbia River

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... One of our favorite family traditions is driving around admiring all the beautiful holiday decorations and lights after dark. But, not only do our neighborhoods light up, but so does the Columbia River.

One of the most unique Christmas lighting displays around Clark County is the annual Christmas Ships Parade! The 63rd Annual Christmas Ships Parade starts Friday, December 1, 2017, and will be parading for 15 nights in December, ending on the 21st. There are six nights off, so be sure to check their schedule before you head out to your favorite viewing spot.

Come enjoy all the fun and excitement of the Christmas Ships Parade on Saturday, December 2 from the warmth of indoors thanks to the hospitality of the Port of Camas-Washougal. "Doors open at 5pm, ships sail from 6-7pm. Free Cider and Cookies provided while the Washougal Highschool Choir sings carols in the lobby. Stay warm and dry while you watch the ships sail by!" The Port is located at 24 S A Street, Washougal

There are many places along the Vancouver Waterfront to view the Christmas Ship Parade, some inside and some outside. For a complete daily schedule, including maps and indoor and outdoor viewing locations, click here. Weather is the only element that will cancel the ships performance. That determination is made by the leaders for the evening about a half hour before the ships are scheduled to begin performing.

Keep in mind, that this is an all volunteer organization, and the Skippers pay for their own decorations and fuel costs, for the enjoyment of all. What started out as one lone sailboat from Portland Yacht Club, has grown into a fleet of between 55 and 60 ships, and has become a family tradition for many boat owners.

Maybe it's time to make the Christmas Ship Parade one of your family traditions, too. 😀
