Chelatchie Prairie Railroad Gears Up for the Holidays

hey! sharing is caring :)

There is nothing better to experience the changes in the season than on a train ride.

As you ride along you can let yourself be transported back in time as you experience the beautiful landscape passing by.

One of the best railroad experiences around is at the historic Chelatchie Prairie Railroad right here in Yacolt.

And they have several train adventures this fall and winter that will amaze the whole family.

On November 11th and 12th come aboard for the Patriot’s Weekend Run.

You will experience a ride on the 1941 Alco diesel engine snug inside one of two cabooses or the coach car.

It will travel through the 330 foot solid rock tunnel, to the Heisson area with a stop at Moulton Station to visit Yacolt Falls. Trips will run at 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm.

And right in time for the holidays you can catch the Christmas Tree Train.

On November 25th, 26th and December 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 10th you can hop one of three excursions diesel runs on a 1941 ALCO S2.

Departures are at 9:30 am, 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm from the station in Yacolt, WA.

Along the trip capture views of the Lewis River atop a hill-side vantage point and then return to Moulton Station to enjoy warm cider, cocoa, hot coffee and cookies.

Santa has a gift for each child, so bring your camera to capture this moment in time.

Family tree packages include a fresh-cut 6-7 foot tree (choice of type of tree) and four train tickets. You can add additional train tickets when you reserve your tickets.

And finally don’t miss the last open weekend of the season on the Winter Finale Steam Train.

On December 16th and 17th depart from the station at either 12:00 pm or 2:30 pm.

This weekend is SPECIAL!!! You will experience everything that happens on the Christmas Tree Train, with the added bonus of a chance to ride on a steam engine.

Advance reservations are highly recommended, as seats do fill up. So get yours soon and bring your family aboard on a wonderful holiday adventure.

NOTE…the reservation system indicates inside seating ONLY. If you are brave and like the briskness of the NW, there is lots of outside seating. Call or contact us if you have questions.
