Spread the Joy.

Discover the power of sidewalk chalk in the 2nd Annual International Chalk the Walks on Tuesday, August 21, 2012.

Chalk the Walks started last year right here in Vancouver, WA as a project of The Joy Team; their mission was simple… “spreading joy, optimism and inspiration through the magical power of sidewalk chalk.” Last year there were chalkers in 22 states and 3 countries, so I would say, “Mission Accomplished”.

Remember when you were a kid and you’d draw pictures and write happy thoughts with chalk in your driveway and down the sidewalks of your  street? And the adults always smiled when they read the big, pastel-colored messages? The idea today is as simple as it was in childhood: write happy messages, have fun doing it, spread some joy while you’re at it.

Any day is a great day to spread joy, optimism and inspiration, but many efforts are most powerful when done in unison en mass, so grab your sidewalk chalk and make your mark! Don’t want to chalk alone? Head to Uptown Village on Main Street from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on August 21 and help The Joy Team fill the sidewalks with positive messages. ( Look for their table in Pop Culture (1929 Main Street)).
