Camas-Washougal Historical Society Plant Fair Grows Flowers and Funds

The popular Annual Plant Fair hosted by the Camas-Washougal Historical Society will be held Sunday, June 13, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Two Rivers Heritage Museum, 1 Durgan Street in Washougal.

Funds from the sale will help the work of the CWHS to preserve and make available historic information and artifacts that tell the stories of the history, people, and development of the Washougal and Camas communities.

“We’ve been participating in plant sales for more than 20 years,” explained Alma Ladd, Plant Fair Organizer, and museum ‘plant lady.’ “It began with a volunteer’s husband getting a truckload of surplus plants that we decided to sell at the downtown Camas plant fair as a small fundraiser. From there it grew. Now we work all spring to collect healthy plants from local gardens and yards and hold the event at our museum. We see many familiar faces year after year who look forward to our great prices and unique items to add color or interest to their flowerbed and landscaping.”

Plants for sale will include Solomon’s seal, forsythia, red hellebores, violets, Hosta lilies, pink and white peonies, small azaleas and rhododendrons, wildflowers, and other native plants. “We also have Camas Lilies available, and they go quickly,” said Ladd.

For COVID safety, social distancing and cleaning protocols will be in place. Volunteers will be wearing face masks and customers are being asked to wear them.

Museum hours are currently Saturdays only from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Price is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2 for students, and free for CWHS members and children under 5.
