Camas First Friday Dog Days of Summer

hey! sharing is caring :)

July’s First Friday in Downtown Camas will be a fun celebration for dogs and their best friends. July 1st, from 5 pm to 8pm, will bring doggie fashion and talent shows with prizes, vendors, kids’ crafts with a dog theme, a dog breed guessing activity in participating businesses, and more. There will also be a dog and owner look-alike contest. Bring your favorite pooch (leashes required), and enjoy a night out with your dog.

The West Columbia Gorge Humane Society will be on hand with info on dog adoption and a fun “Find the Treat” game for your dogs.

The Doggie Fashion Show/Costume Contest will be at 6pm and the Doggie Talent Contest will be at 7pm. For the Fashion Contest, the judging will be for the cutest, most creative, and the funniest costumes at each show, as well as for the Best Doggie and Owner Look-alike Award. For the Talent Contest, the judging will be for most clever, most difficult, and cutest talents. Sign up when you get to the event at the DCA table, up to 15 minutes before each show. The event will be between 4th and 5th on Cedar Street. No cost to enter.

Live music by the Lance Kinnaird duo will also be enjoyed from 5:30pm-8pm, as well as waffles by Hello Waffle cart and Paint Roller Mobile Paint Party painting dog pictures with the kids. Some of the vendors planning to be there include: Polka Dot Paws by Abbey, Strut your Mutt, East Padden Animal Hospital, Camas Methodist Church (pet blessings and treats), and Thirty-One Gifts dog accessories.

“Dog Days of Summer was new last year and people loved it!” says Carrie Schulstad, Executive Director of the Downtown Camas Association (DCA). “We had almost 100 dogs throughout the evening come and enjoy the festivities. It was really fun to see all the different breeds and cheer our favorites on in the contests. People love their dogs and this is a way to have a good time with your canine friend in Downtown Camas.”

First Fridays are Art, Activities, Dining, and After Hours Shopping themed events coordinated by the DCA each month of the year to support downtown and bring the community together. For all the information, visit the DCA website and their Facebook page.
