Battle Ground Veterans Memorial

hey! sharing is caring :)

Fundraiser at Rusty Grape Vineyard.

The planned Veteran’s Memorial, located in Battle Ground’s Kiwanis Park, will honor local veterans who have died in service to our country. This special place of honor will provide the community an area for private reflection as well as a gathering place for events honoring the fallen. The memorial will include the names of fallen veterans from the Civil War through our most recent wars and conflicts and embodies elements dedicated to the United States Army, Navy Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. The funding of the Veteran’s Memorial is solely dependent on public donations and contributions of in-kind services and materials.

Join former Battle Ground Mayor Mike Ciraulo, and hosts Phil Haberthur, Larry J. Smith, Heather Renner and Jacki Gabbert on Thursday, September 20, 2012, 6:30 pm at the Rusty Grape Vineyard (16712 NE 219th St, Battle Ground) for a fundraising event.

“As some of you know, following the death of Andrew Shields in 2008, the city of Battle Ground decided that a memorial needed to built in Battle Ground to honor the 32 veterans from the greater Battle Ground area who have died serving our country.  As a person who never served in the military (but took great pride in my father who served), I feel a special obligation to do everything in my power to honor not only those who died protecting our freedom but all veterans who have honorably served our country. View the  project, hear from Andrew’s dad (Jon) about his sons sacrifice, and of course enjoy some appetizers and great wine while we raise money for this worthy cause.” ~Mike Ciraulo
