The Battle Ground City Council recently passed a resolution naming the Battle Ground fire and police stations the William J. Ganley Public Safety Complex. This distinct honor recognizes Councilmember Bill Ganley for his extraordinary leadership in service to the Battle Ground community.

Known to thousands of students and parents, Mr. Ganley dedicated over 30 years to his profession as a teacher and coach at Battle Ground and Summit View High Schools. In 1991, he was appointed to the City of Battle Ground Planning Commission. He was first elected to Battle Ground City Council Position No. 6 in November of 1993 and has been re-elected to 5 consecutive 4-year terms. He served as Battle Ground’s first Mayor under the council-manager form of government from 1997 – 2001 and was instrumental in shaping the new form of government elected by the vote of the people. He consistently advocates for public safety as the first priority of the City of Battle Ground.

Mr. Ganley is currently serving his 6th term in office on the Battle Ground City Council. His extensive experience, historic perspective, and knowledge of municipal government serve as an invaluable resource to the City as well as to the various county-wide boards and commissions on which Mr. Ganley has served and continues to serve with distinction.

Mr. Ganley’s wife, Brenda, his parents, extended family members and many friends, students, and colleagues joined the Battle Ground City Council as Mayor Bowman read, and the City Council passed unanimously, the resolution to name the William J. Ganley Public Safety Complex.

Just minutes before, near Main Street and SW 5th Ave, the safety complex sign itself was unveiled to the surprise of Mr. Ganley and to the delight of all who witness his extraordinary leadership, integrity, dedication and desire to help people and advance the community of Battle Ground.
