Santa and Mrs. Claus will be the honored guests again this year at Battle Ground’s 28th annual Christmas Tree Lighting event. Scheduled each year on the first Friday of December, this year’s tree lighting will take place on Friday, December 1st at the Battle Ground Community Center located at 912 East Main Street in Battle Ground.
Festivities begin at 5:30 pm with caroling led by the Battle Ground High School Jazz Choir. To the delight of all who are young and young-at-heart, Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by Fire District 3 Engine to light the tree.
After the lighting of the Christmas tree, the celebration moves indoors to the warmth of the community center where the North County Community Food Bank will serve warm and tasty refreshments, and where Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit with children and pose for pictures. Your own pictures with Santa are free; printed pictures with Santa are $5 each with proceeds benefiting the Summer Playground Program.
The annual event is a community collaboration of the City of Battle Ground, Fire District 3, the North County Community Food Bank, and the Battle Ground Chamber of Commerce. The food bank will be accepting non-perishable donations.
The outdoor caroling and tree lighting will warm your heart, but the weather outside may be frightful so be sure to dress for rain, shine, or snow!
