Bark Ranger Walking Tour

hey! sharing is caring :)

Explore local history and learn about dog etiquette at our national park on this free, ranger-led walking tour series designed for visitors and their dogs. Tours begin at 10:00 am and last approximately 30-45 minutes.

July 15, 2017: Explore the Land Bridge Trail, one of the most popular walking trails at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. Join a national park ranger to learn about dogs that lived in the Hudson’s Bay Company Village, learn about the fort’s English garden, see the Old Apple Tree and more!

August 19, 2017: Discover the history of Vancouver Barracks, the Northwest’s oldest U.S. Military post, and learn about the dogs kept as workers and mascots by the soldiers living there.

Participants are not required to bring their dog, but dogs are welcome on this tour. Dogs on the tour should be friendly other dogs and people, and up-to-date on vaccines. Participants with dogs must bring waste bags, food and water as necessary, and a leash no longer than 6 feet.

Participants are invited to arrive up to a half hour early to allow their dogs to acclimate to the presence of other dogs. The starting point for these tours will be the parking lot of the reconstructed fort.

For more information, visit the National Park Service: Fort Vancouver online.
