Are You Interested in Government and Educational Access Television?

The City of Vancouver and the County Manager are seeking applicants with an interest in government and educational access television and cable television franchising to fill open positions on its City/County Telecommunications Commission.

The City/County Telecommunications Commission serves in an advisory capacity to the Vancouver City Council and the Clark County Council on matters related to telecommunications and cable television. The commission makes reports, monitors compliance with the city and county cable franchise agreements, and establishes rules and regulations regarding cable television and associated telecommunications issues. Four members are appointed by Vancouver City Council and four by the Clark County Council.


Commission meetings are held quarterly on Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. and are currently being conducted remotely. Commissioners serve three-year terms.

The Clark County position is for an unexpired three-year term that ends April 30, 2023; applicants must be Clark County residents. To be considered, please submit a letter of interest and résumé to Michelle Pfenning, County Manager’s Office, P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver, WA 98666-5000. Applicants also can send information by email to [email protected]. The application deadline is 5:00 PM on Monday, November 30, 2020.

The city position is currently held by an individual whose term is expiring and may reapply. To be considered for the city seat, applicants must live in the city and must be available for an interview with Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle on Wednesday, December 9. Applications may be submitted online at www.cityofvancouver.us/boards. Applications must be received by 5:00 PM, Sunday, November 8.
