West Columbia Gorge Humane Society is holding its seventh annual Hike on the Dike, plus 5K and 10K on May 30th, 2015 from 10am to 2pm.
The walk begins and ends at Pendleton Woolen Mills in Washougal. The route heads east along the dike to the entrance of Captain William Clark Park, and loops back for a total of just under 3 miles of fantastic scenary.
The 10K run takes off at 10:30am, the 5K at 11:15am, and the walk at 11:30am. Walkers are welcome to stop in at the shelter which is located en route!
The first 50 registrants can receive a free dog microchip on site, and the first 250 paid participants will receive a WCGHS Bag of goodies. The minimum pledge is $25 per participant. Children aged 16 and under can participate for free with a paid adult. You can register online at wcghs.org or print the application and send it in to the shelter. But, don’t stop at registering yourself… put together a team!
There are many ways to support the shelter. If you can’t make the walk, consider making a donation, or join Riverview Bank, Grocery Outlet, MudBay, and Squeeze and Grind by being a sponsor at the event!
West Columbia Gorge Humane Society is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill shelter, established in Washougal in 1994. Programs and services are supported largely by volunteers and donations. Take this opportunity to get outside for some fresh air, and help our feline and K9 friends!
