The annual Hoike and Hawaiian Festival is back this year right here in downtown Vancouver, WA at Esther Short Park. Don’t miss the chance to sway to the rhythm of hula dancers, learn how to make authentic arts & crafts, watch traditional Hawaiian games & competition and enjoy food from local vendors…all in one place for this 3-day event on July 23rd through 25th.
Activities offered during this two day event include:
Hula Dancing Demonstration (July 23rd from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm)
Hula & Craft Workshop (July 23rd & 24th)
Hula dancers and crafters of Hawaiian arts pilgrimage from around the globe to attend this one of a kind workshop. The workshop offers instruction on dance, language, oli/chant, mele, history, current Hawaiian issues, and cultural crafts. Morning classes include breakfast. Afternoon classes include lunch. Full day classes include both meals.We want to give every keiki the opportunity to learn from Uncle Cal. Hula Competitions (July 24th Only from 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm)
5K Aloha Run/Walk (July 25th from 8:00 am to 10:00 am)
The Annual Aloha Fun Run/Walk continues to bring awareness to health and exercise in the Hawaiian and Hawaiian-at-Heart community. Whether you want to walk or run, come out and strut your stuff at this one day event.
Ho’Ike and Hawaiian Festival (July 25th from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm)
Over 10,000 visitors have swayed to the rhythm as hula dancers and Polynesian singers filled the park with the heartbeat of their cultures. Raffles, keiki (kids) activities, arts and crafts, business and delicious food vendors round out this two day long outdoor festival which is now considered the third largest annual event at Esther Short Park. Bring a low backed chair or blanket and enjoy the tropical festivities.
