The Washougal City Council will be meeting with officials from BNSF Railway on Tuesday, December 9th, 2014 to touch on local concerns with oil trains running through the city. The meeting will begin at 5:30pm in the Washburn Auditorium at Washougal High School. The public is invited, but will not have an opportunity to join the discussion.
The meeting will address questions about safety in emergency situations, and day-to-day impacts from the rise in trains. Ultimately, the discussion will help the council in taking an official stance on the increased oil train traffic. Washougal City Manger says that the council plans to present a resolution in January.
