“Pow Wow time is the Native American people’s way of meeting together, to join in dancing, singing, visiting, renewing old friendships and make new ones.”
Covington Middle School (11200 NE Rosewood Rd) will be hosting a Traditional Native American Pow-Wow on Saturday, March 3, 2012. This celebration of American Indian dance and culture is sponsored by the Evergreen, Vancouver and Battle Ground Public Schools. This free event is open to the public, and everyone is invited to come learn about and enjoy native singing, dancing, food music, arts and crafts.
There will be two grand entries with the first at 1:00pm and the second at 6:00pm. Native American dancers will participate in the various dance styles to the beat of drum groups from throughout the Northwest.
The program’s parent committee will be preparing food items, such as fry bread, and Indian tacos. Sale of the items are part of their fundraising activities. Vendors from throughout the Northwest will also be selling Native American arts and crafts. Doors open at noon.
