The play opens in 1960’s London where Dr. Watson, Holmes’s trusty colleague and loyal friend, tells the story of the famous detective’s last adventure. The story revolves around Sherlock, Professor Watson and his arch nemesis Professor Moriarty. The King of Bohemia is blackmailed, and the opera singer, diva Irene Adler, may be one of the suspects. Moriarty and his henchman and Adler’s maid Madge, are behind this, and Holmes must walk right into his trap in order to solve his final mystery.
This reinterpretation of Sherlock Holmes’ last great story was adapted by Steven Dietz and is Rebecca Hoffman’s directorial debut at Magenta Theater. Originally set in 1891, Magenta received special permission from the playwright to stage the show in 1960’s London.
