Local Businesses Organize Drives to Benefit Share

hey! sharing is caring :)

Several Local businesses have partnered with Share to host ‘Care for Share’ events requesting donations of food, clothing, toys and books from the community to benefit low-income and homeless individuals and families in Clark County.

“The need of individuals and families during the holidays is expected to increase once again this year and we are grateful to all the local businesses and organizations who so generously organize drives each year to benefit our clients,” said Diane McWithey, Executive Director of Share. “All donations are truly appreciated and will sincerely brighten the lives of men, women and children in our community.”

Below is a list of current ‘Care for Share’ events:

Barnes & Noble Vancouver hosts a book drive Nov. 1 – Dec. 31 for children (ages 0-18) on behalf of Share. Recommended titles are at the cash registers for purchase, but any appropriate children’s book, sale and bargain titles throughout the store are all greatly appreciated. Barnes & Noble membership discounts also honored for book drive titles. Donated books will be delivered from Barnes & Noble to Share and used to establish libraries at our family shelters, plus books will be given to children through our ASPIRE and Backpack programs. Ask any bookseller for more details. If you would like to donate gently-used books, please deliver those to the Share Fromhold Service Center, 2306 NE Andresen Road (M-F, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

Burgerville Toy, Clothing and Food Drive: Nov. 1 to Dec. 31. At participating Burgerville locations (Vancouver stores only), a toy, clothing and food drive will be held to collect gifts for our Holiday Cheer Program and annual Holiday Party. A Giving Tree will also be placed at each location with gift tags listing needed and ‘wish list’ items for clients. Donated items can be placed in marked barrels at each location. New and gently-used items are welcome.

Walmart in Hazel Dell, 9000 NE Highway 99, will host a ‘Fill the Truck’ drive on the weekends of Nov. 28-30, Dec. 5-7 and Dec. 12-14. Donations of toys, food, housewares and clothing will be accepted in the store to benefit Share clients. Walmart will have discounted toys and other items from which to choose.

The Original Taco House in Vancouver, 10820 NE Coxley Dr., will host a Home Goods Drive for families in need Nov. 1 to Dec. 31. Donations that are greatly in need are: Toiletries, Diapers, Bath Towels & Washcloths, Sheets & Bedding, plus Shoes, Socks, Jeans, Hats & Gloves for men, women and children
