Holiday Sip and Shop in Downtown Camas

hey! sharing is caring :)

A brand new event will fill Downtown Camas with festive cheer this holiday season. The Holiday Sip & Shop is a holiday after hours shopping, dining, and historic home tour event on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 5-9 pm. This event will feature wine, beer, cider, and other tastings in downtown locations; holiday shopping specials; caroling on the street corners to add to the holiday cheer; and holiday street lighting will be all aglow along 4th Avenue.

The evening also includes a ride on a double decker bus and a tour of the historic Mill Manager’s House that has recently been renovated by Bob and Terri Shanahan, business owners in Downtown Camas. The bus will make frequent loops from downtown to this nearby historic home which will be decorated for the holidays. This Dutch Colonial Revival home was designed by world-famous architect A. E. Doyle and built in 1923 by the Camas Paper Mill as a residence for its manager. Several mill managers lived in the home until the 1970s when the Meehan family purchased it. The Shanahan’s bought the property from the Meehan family trust in 2014 and have done an outstanding job restoring this exceptional piece of history in Camas.

Ticket price is $25 and also includes one free drink and a holiday passport showing the participating locations in downtown. Get at least 10 stamps in your passport and be entered to win an “Enjoy Downtown Camas” package including an overnight stay in the beautiful Camas Hotel, dinner for two, movie tickets at the historic Liberty Theatre, free coffee, free cupcakes, free bottle of olive oil of your choice, and more. You also get tickets to enter to win with every $10 you spend downtown that evening.

Tickets are available at the event webpage at Downtown Camas Association Holiday Sip and Shop. Pick up your tickets and passports at the DCA table at Arktana Shoes, 415 NE 4th, starting at 4:45 pm that evening.

“We are very excited to bring this event to Camas,” says Carrie Schulstad, Executive Director of the DCA. “It will be a classy shopping and downtown experience with lots of added bonuses and will celebrate our small town feel, love of history, and the holiday season. This event will also help support the initiatives in Downtown Camas that help downtown to thrive, keep people connected, and provide pride in our community. A sincere thank you to the Shanahans for opening up their incredible home so we can see a glimpse of Camas history as well as its renovations and current artful décor.”

This event is a fundraiser for the 501c3 nonprofit Downtown Camas Association, a Main Street Program that works year round to strengthen and promote Downtown Camas through partnerships, events, beautification and historic preservation projects, economic development, advocacy, and tourism functions.
