Hazel Dell Parade of Bands Celebrates Service

hey! sharing is caring :)

The date is set (actually, it’s always set – the Third Saturday in May – Armed Forces Day!), so mark your calendars for May 21, 2016, and get ready for this iconic community event. The Hazel Dell Parade of Bands, now in it’s 52nd year, is presented by the Hazel Dell/Salmon Creek Business Association. This years theme is “Celebrate Service.”

The Hazel Dell Parade will be honoring those in our community that provide the services we depend on. The 2016 Grand Marshals will be The Streissguth Family, as our annual parade will especially focus on their contributions to the Parade, and in memory of former Fire Chief Dick Streissguth, who passed away in December. His family has participated in the Hazel Dell Parade of Bands for many years, proudly chauffeuring the vintage fire equipment that was so dear to his heart.

The Hazel Dell Parade of Bands is the largest parade in SW Washington and features over two dozen High School and Middle School marching bands from Clark County and surrounding areas. But, there are also decorated floats, vintage cars, clowns, dancers, fire trucks, horses, and more. In fact, there are over 100 entries this year!

The Parade brings back great memories for participants of the past and creates new moments to cherish for many more. (Who else remembers riding in the back of trucks for their Little League teams?). So get there early to get a great viewing area along Hwy. 99, or wherever your favorite spot may be. And remember, please support your local Hazel Dell and Salmon Creek businesses that make this awesome event happen.

Note: You may find a map of the Parade Route here.

As usual, the Hazel Dell Parade starts promptly at 10:30 am in front of the Fire Station. You can follow all the fun of the Parade on the Hazel Dell Parade facebook page, and watch for information on the upcoming release of the Hazel Dell Parade mobile app.

Note: You may find information on the FREE Parade app here.
