It’s the first ‘First Friday’ of Fall, and you’ve got a couple of entertaining destination and activity choices to get your October started.
Visit Downtown Vancouver’s First Friday, where Vancouver’s Downtown Association (VDA) invites you to experience autumn in all it’s artsy array. Our crisp fall evening on October 2nd starts out with a warm welcome at the Columbia Bank First Friday Downtown Reception, celebrating the Vancouver Arts District. Then stroll to one of dozens of stores, shops and galleries, all decked out in the October theme.
Feeling a little more ‘spirited?’ Head out to Camas for the 10th annual “Pumpkin Pageant,” Super Hero Costume Contest, and all sorts of fall fun!
Pumpkin Pageant: Participating downtown businesses each have a carved pumpkin and you get to vote for your favorite! Voting enters you to win a fall-themed basket from the merchants.
Super Hero Costume Contest: Unitus Community Credit Union is sponsoring this First Friday and will be hosting a Super Hero Costume Contest starting at 7PM at Journey (4th and Birch).
Two categories with prizes for adults: “Most Authentic” and “Most Unique” Super Hero Costumes and two categories with prizes for kids: “Best Super Hero Costume” and “Best Homemade Super Hero Costume.”
There’s also free face painting; Fall Kids’ crafts with the DCA; Ribbon Cuttings and Opening Celebrations for Flow Hot Yoga, 5:00PM, (321 NE 4th, next to the Liberty Theatre) and Wintzer Acupunture, 5:30PM, (430 NE Cedar); and Oktoberfest Fun including Vienna Style hot dogs and German beer at Caps N’ Taps!
Live music in various locations throughout town including Ben Union at Flutes & Rocks and Heather Keizur at Birch Street Uptown Lounge.
