Clark County Recycling Day Events | Spring 2015

Clark County, the cities of Battle Ground, Camas, La Center, Ridgefield, Vancouver and Washougal and the town of Yacolt are hosting Recycling Day Events in 2015. These events will give Clark County, Washington, residents an opportunity to manage a variety of special wastes* through reuse, recycling or safe disposal.

Description of Materials

  • Batteries
    ACCEPTED: Vehicle batteries – car, truck, motorcycle and marine lead acid batteries. Household batteries – alkaline, mercury, ni-cad, lithium, rechargeable and button batteries.
    NOT ACCEPTED: Forklift, locomotive and hybrid car batteries.
  • Block Foam
    ACCEPTED: Clean, dry polystyrene, white #6 block foam (Styrofoam®)
    NOT ACCEPTED: Plastic-wrapped, yellow urethane foam; spongy polypropylene foam, food trays, foam film, hot tub covers, packing peanuts and foam with cardboard with tape or metal attached.
  • E-Waste
    ACCEPTED: Computers, monitors, TVs, printers, VCRs, typewriters, cell phones and other electronics.
    NOT ACCEPTED: Microwaves.
  • Freon Containing Items
    ACCEPTED: Residential freezers, refrigerators; A/C units only; limit three Freon containing units per participant/per day.
    NOT ACCEPTED: Commercial equipment, or RV and automotive air conditioning units.
  • Household Hazardous Waste
    ACCEPTED: Automotive products – oil, antifreeze, gasoline, brake and transmission fluid. Household cleaners – oven cleaners, drain cleaners, disinfectants, laundry products. Paints and solvents – latex and oil base paint, thinners, varnishers, wood preservers. Poisons/pesticides – fungicides, insecticides, herbicides and rodenticides: all wastes must be from households.
    NOT ACCEPTED: Explosives, ammunition, biological material or business generated wastes.
  • Scrap Metal
    ACCEPTED: Large appliances (ovens, stoves, hot water heaters, clothes washers/dryers and dishwashers), barbecues, metal sinks and other metal items. Accepted items must be mostly metal.
    NOT ACCEPTED: Propane tanks, car bodies, trailers or metals with grease.
  • Shredding
    ACCEPTED: Limit of two banker boxes per visit.
    NOTE: Please remain in your vehicle unless directed by staff. Please note that shredding will only be available at Camas, La Center, Washougal, Hazel Dell, Vancouver, East Vancouver and Battle Ground events.
  • Tires
    ACCEPTED: Regular size automobile, SUV, pickup truck and motorcycle tires, limit five tires per participant/per day. Rims (by themselves) are accepted for the scrap metal box.
    NOT ACCEPTED: Tractor-trailer size or larger; tires with rims; tires from service station owners, repair garages or any type of tire dealer or re-treader.
